For the Record...
Since Nancy Ann Tappe first began to see the Indigo life color and began using the term in the mid-1970's, this concept has spread around the entire globe, creating a universal awareness of "the new kids on the block." At first all the talk was, naturally, about "Indigo children." But today we know that that mentality is behind the times. Indigos have grown up and moved beyond childhood into the adult world. Now they are becoming the movers and shakers of our future. Indeed, they are showing us that walking across the bridge to the future involves constant (and frequently chaotic) change.
Sadly, however, in this process of globalization of the term and its basic concept of the Indigo life color, many people capitalized on Nancy's perceptions, expanding them into overgeneralizations or giving them some sort of "mystical" interpretation -- that "Indigo children are wide-eyed, magical children of the Universe with psychic abilities ...." This mythology has been carried so far that it is discounted completely in most places because it contains so many elements of fantasy. Since Indigos are replacing all other colors, they represent the entire spectrum of human life. There have always been psychic children or those with unusual abilities. But there are also Indigos who can walk into a public school and shoot people. Nancy has seen no evidence to support the claim that there are statistically any more "wide-eyed, magical children" on earth than there ever were before.
Most likely, the error is two-fold. Others co-mitted the sin of expanding beyond the truth and spreading a concept of these children as something they never could possibly be. Nancy o-mitted to go public with her views for two decades about this mythology. And indeed, she has always said that truth is universal. It cannot be owned by any individual. Indigos are here. There can be many descriptions and definitions of who they are. But Nancy has been given almost no credit (and certainly no money) all this time while others were profiting measurably. Nancy did not "invent" Indigos; neither did anyone else. Because of her synesthetic process, she SAW the evolution and beginning of the new color, starting with just a few babies born in the 60's and 70's and developing until today, a time when almost all babies now born have the Indigo life color.
Today we are trying to remedy and clarify the information put out by Nancy -- and only that. This website, Nancy's current books, and the ones to come will definitively report Nancy's perceptions about Indigo children, Indigo adults, their lives, and personality patterns. Everyone else will have to bear the responsibility for their own information.
We ask you, the reader, or more importantly, you, the Indigo, to decide whose information is relevant, helpful, or pertinent to your own life.
This site has created some humor in our lives. For those of you who are unaware, Wikipedia is a shareware site designed for individuals with expertise to write and "share" with the world that expertise on any given subject. Usually the person who creates the site originally establishes the parameters of information.
In Nancy's language, all things contain a "kiss" and a "kick." The kiss is that anyone with knowledge and some level of expertise can edit entries on Wikipedia, the goal being to present the widest possible range of truth. The kick is that anyone can also erase what someone else has edited or added.
The Wikipedia reference for "indigo children" was created some time ago. Nancy's name was used without her knowledge or permission. Her books were cited erroneously. And, most unfortunately, a cartoon was posted of a child with a purple aura, with Nancy's name positioned immediately underneath. Anyone who knows Nancy or who has read any of her material knows that this cartoon is exactly what she does NOT see. It is NOT her representation of the Indigo life color. Other textual references to Nancy or her information are misworded, misspelled, or just plain contradictory to Nancy's beliefs about the Indigo. Yet her name is used consistently throughout the Wikipedia entry on Indigo children.
We (Nancy's publishers) corrected much of the information on the site, listed her correct book publication data, posted her website, and otherwise attempted to clarify some of the textual references to her beliefs and information. Shortly after we made these corrections, they were erased.
We have no intention of playing the Wikipedia game. It's easy enough to see who might have a vested interest in continued misrepresentation of Nancy. It would at least have been nice if they had spelled her name correctly.
